xvid divzx codecs

xvid or divzx codecs

When I try to play an xvid, avi, divx or dvd the video is chopy. I tried numerous codecs and codecs packs (not all at the same time) and I still get the same chopy responce. I'm running an ATI 9700 pro with ati drivers. Vista x86 and a 3gig intel processor with 2g memory. I have no problem with video on XP. Are there codec packs or xvid codecs for Vista?

Actually, there are both XviD and DivX codecs, and they do work under Vista, at least in my experience.
Start by uninstalling all the codec packs you have installed. It has been reported that they can conflict with each other, and cause more problems than they create.
I
followed the instructions here: http://www.animesuki.com/doc.php/help/playback.html and added the Divx playback software from http://www.divx.com/ and I've been able to play anything I've tried.

I installed CCCP (http://cccp-project.net/) and use Windows Media Player Classic and everything works fine (exept for HD-content, for which my computer is a bit to old to handle flawlessly) and my computer only have about half the power of yours.
